The founder of the foundation “Partnership for Road Safety” helt the press conference on the ongoing reforms in the field of transport. Mainly, they focused on issues such as regulations related to taxes and periodic technical inspections. Gela Kvashilava positively assessed the new regulations for taxis. In his opinion, the quality of safety and service will be improved, and it is also necessary to set regulations for drivers' competence, conditions of vehicle and hygiene. In order to achieve the desired results, coordinated involvement of different sectors is required.
Gela Kvashilava also positively evaluated the periodic technical inspection reform, but noted that there are shortcomings in terms of enforcement. According to his recommendation, a special unit should be set up to for surveillance to prevent violations of drivers and periodic technical inspection centers.
