Program “Develop the Dialogue on the Public Policy between Non-Governmental Sector and Parliament of Georgia” Ended

On July 16-17, the final working meeting was held within the program “Develop the Dialogue on the Public Policy between Non-Governmental Sector and Parliament of Georgia”.  The representatives of participant non-governmental organizations, Parliament committees and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy attended the meeting. During the program, the foundation “Partnership for Road Safety” was working on the children’s road safety under the age of 12, which was completed with the law adoption.

During the meeting, the representatives of the foundation “Partnership for Road Safety” talked about the road safety of the children under the age of 12, importance of children’s car restraints and prohibition for children to occupy the front seat in a car. The foundation actively worked on the children’s road safety, in particular to work out the legislative changes about forbidding children to sit in the front seat and use a child restraint seat. The work completed with the legislative changes in the traffic law. From March 1, 2014, it is forbidden for children under 12 to sit in the front seat; and it is fined with 40 GEL.

The program, where the foundation “Partnership for Road safety” participated with other non-governmental organizations, lasted for 14 months. The goal of the program was to assist non-governmental organizations to plan and implement the advocacy and communication activities.  The certifications were distributed among the participants. The program is prepared by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy with the financial support of European Union.
