the Day of Dead and Injured People on the Road
World Health Organization (WHO) announced the third Sunday ofNovember as the Day of Dead and Injured People on the Road according tothe UN Resolution in 2009.On November 16, at 12:00, the campaign dedicated to the Day wasimplemented in three cities of Georgia: Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Telavi. The goalof the action is to involve the society in the process of traffic problemsimprovement in order to decrease the number of road crashes. Theparticipants called the society to keep the traffic law.The foundation “Partnership for Road Safety” and “Georgian Alliance forSafe Roads” jointly organized the action in the streets. Youth clubmembers of civil program will participate in the event, who will call thedrivers and pedestrians to follow the traffic rules in the streets. The mainslogans of the action was “Slow down”, “Let pedestrians cross”, and “Usethe pedestrians’ crossings”. Stickers with the slogans and reflectors weredistributed to the drivers and pedestrians in the streets. Therepresentatives of the Estonian partner organization “Traffic Prof”participated in the walking action.In Kutaisi, the partner organization “ Kutaisi Youth Center” organized thesame kind of action with the same slogans. The action was arranged in thestreet. Information materials, posters and reflectors were distributedamong citizens. The man attention of the street action was paid to thepedestrian’s rights at the crossings without traffic lights.
With the help of member of the club “New Life” of Telavi Public School 5,the event was arranged. Students prepared information posters andorganized the street action. The slogans were to protect the pedestrians’rights.
