Creating Traffic Safety Center for children in Tbilisi

On November 2, with the support of the Estonian government the foundation “Partnership for Road Safety” began the project construction of first regional Traffic Safety Centre for School and preschool children’s. The main aim of the center is to raise the awareness of school pupils through practical trainings on schools traffic grounds, make Georgian school teachers sure to pay their attention to the traffic education at schools, and promote the use of bicycles. With the support of our Estonian partners, a new traffic campus will be built at a public school and a kinder garden of Tbilisi on the example of traffic campus, which is located in Estonia in Võru County, where traffic grounds reflect the real traffic situations with real traffic signs, traffic lights, bicycle routes etc. Georgian school pupils will receive the close to real road experience by participating in traffic ground trainings. Within the project traffic primers, leaflets, bicyclist’s workbooks, certificates „I am a good pedestrian”, bicycles and other road safety related information materials will be spread. The special movie on the traffic ground’s work will be prepared. In spring 2012 all the equipments will be installed and centre will be opened.  Aftermath, thousands of Georgian children will have the opportunity to increase the awareness on the road safety and to entertain at same time free of charge.
