The World Bank and Georgian government held seminar in Tbilisi
On August 5-6, in Tbilisi, the foundation "Partnership
for Road Safety" participated a seminar dedicated to the opening of the fourth
project of renovation of East-West express highway organized by the Government
of Georgia and the World Bank. The goal of the seminar was to present the
project-related information and hold discussions on road-construction industry
and road safety issues.
The seminar was attended by
high-rank officials from the following bodies: The Ministry of Regional
Development and Infrastructure, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Internal
Affairs, Ministry of Economics and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Labor,
Health and Social Affairs, Ministry of Education and Science as well as the
representatives of non-governmental and international financial institutions.
The project will contribute to
gradual decrease of transport costs and improve the quality of safety on the
road section rehabilitated within the frames of this project. Besides, the
projects will increase the opportunity for the Ministry of Regional Development
and Infrastructure and the Roads Department of Georgia to plan and manage the
road network as well as improve road safety.
World Bank continues supporting
Georgian efforts directed to enhancing the abilities of the organizations
operating in the field of motor roads and this new project minimize time and
costs of travel and increase road safety on the main transit highways and other
parts of the country.
