Be Active, Be Safe

The project “Be Active, Be Safe includes three kinds of activities: friendly roads, road safety education at schools and students engagement.The overall purpose of the project is to engage citizens and media in improving road safety and reducing the number of traffic casualties in their communities. We will attain this goal by achieving the following specific objectives: raising awareness among the general public about traffic safety, safe driving behavior and hazardous road infrastructure in neighborhoods and commuting routes; actively engaging citizens to monitor and report hazardous road infrastructure (black spots) and accidents in their area; increasing the accessibility of data on traffic accidents and black spots in Georgia, allowing decision makers at local and national level to take evidence-based and targeted action to prevent further accidents; using citizen reporting, resolving ten or more black spots (and putting up warning signs on 50 others) through distributing micro grants and cooperating closely with local and national authorities; exploring and solve the black spots on the roads nearby the educational institutions by the high school children and students; interesting young generation – schoolchildren and students in the road safety issues; raising awareness among young people about road safety risks and problems; promoting keeping the traffic rules among the Georgian youth; engaging the youth in the social life and activities that will be profitable for the whole society; developing the critical thinking and road safety problem solving among youth; developing the appropriate abilities and skills for arranging and implementing the activities among the youth; covering 30 schools throughout Georgia.
