Working Meeting around the Planned Road Safety Reforms

On February 11, at the hotel “Ambassador Kachreti”, the working meeting around the planned road safety reforms was held, where the foundation “Partnership for Road Safety” (PfRS) presented own evaluation and recommendations on the legal initiatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

The working meeting aimed at presenting the legal amendment initiatives prepared by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, which preparation process PfRS was actively engaged. During the meeting, the new score grading systems and contactless patrol police, driving license issuance and pedestrians’ problem, also the international experience on the mentioned issues were analyzed. In addition, the recent statistical data was announced – in 2016, the number of road crashes was increased with 8% comparing to the previous year. Each year, 500-600 people die and about 10 000 people get injured after a crash.

The working meeting was attended by the Head of Georgian Parliament, Members of Parliament, the representatives of Tbilisi City Hall, Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs, Ministry of Internal Affairs and non-governmental organizations.
