LORD MCCLUSKEY Memorial Award (UK)

Lord Mccluskey Memorial Award was awarded to Partnership for Road Safety in recognation  of our work to improve the law, or the implementation of the law, to support road safety in our community. Lord McCluskey was a Scottish lawyer, who was a passionate advocate of the Rule of Law and a great believer in the power of good legislation and enforcement.  He became interested in road safety in the 1990s when he provided legal advice ensuring that seat belt legislation was re-instated and positively enforced in Costa Rica.  As a result, seat belt wearing rates for drivers improved from 24% to 82%.
