Meeting in the parliament

On April 6, Partnership for Road Safety Foundation held a meeting with MPs within the frameworks of the project Seat Belt Promotion in Georgia. The meeting was attended by Mrs Sandra Elisabeth Roelofs, the First Lady of Georgia, Mr. Gigi Tsereteli, Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, Mrs. Rusudan Kervalishvili Vice- Speaker of the Parliament and representatives from various parliamentary committees. Representative of the Foundation made a presentation with the title: “Social and Economic Cost of not using the Safety Belts”. Mostly the issue of legislative initiations was discussed at the meeting, which implies introduction of mandatory usage of seat-belts by the population on all types of motorways. Other than MPs, the meeting was attended by the representatives of the project’s donor organizations such as USAID, BP and Ministry of Education and Science. After the meeting the board meeting supported the initiative that the Health and Social Issues Committee arrange meetings on these issues at the Parliament of Georgia in the nearest future, and initiate the bill in several months. At the end of the meeting there was a presentation of a new video “Fasten Your Seat-Belt for Love”.
