Road Safety Education for Disadvantaged Youth from Abkhazia and South Ossetia

In 2013, the project “Road Safety Education for Disadvantaged Youth from Abkhazia and South Ossetia” was implemented. The project contributed towards achievement of National Goals in Education and addressed the increasing public health concern related to road safety through awareness rising. The project aimed to prevent growing number of road accidents through increasing awareness among schoolchildren, especially among the disadvantaged youth from Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The project targeted 25 public schools of disadvantaged children from conflict regions in 8 towns of Georgia and as an outcome was that more 3, 000 disadvantaged children acquired knowledge of road safety rules and traffic laws and received the road safety materials and books that increasedchildren‟s, their family members‟ and friends‟ awareness. The project was supported by the Swiss Embassy in Georgia, BP Georgia, EASST.
